I was chatting with a friend the other night and we talked about the recent Philippine Blog Awards he told me he wrote a comment on a blog post but wanted to post it to several other sites I suggested that I just post it here so here it is.
lets just call him Enrico Sigeoun Reynes(sorry pal its a lot better than anonymous):
its just an assumption i may or may not be correct but have you joined a raffle from a bigwig company or even the lottery? i have read many a posters from such raffles(i am an avid smoker and marlboro raffles are so tempting) and some of them says that any person or relative from the third degree consanguinity shall not be legible in joining this contest. even pcso employees are not allowed to bet in the lottery and sweepstakes right? remember the film fest scandals? isnt ms mauritius a prospective talent of ms lolit solis and she blatantly used her to make ruffa gutierez win? when it all got stinky they all fingers pointed to her right?(forgive me if my facts are a bit skewered i was 12 at that time and my aunt was a big gabby fan so i just asked her what happened) my point is anyone from the PBA staff, volunteer or not will have a few eyebrows and some scrutiny pointed against them if ever they win because said staff is affiliated with the entity. hopefully in the years to follow, such trends will end and volunteers or staff will become neutral(and by neutral i mean neither nominated nor has any personal interest). just to avoid any untoward incident that may duplicate this fiasco. To the winners congratulations, for sure you did your best. but please being a winner does not make you the best there is and bragging rights just last 1 year so be careful on what you say. To the losers, well please don't stop on giving it your best. To everybody we all have the freaking right to bitch about someone but please let be in the boundaries of reason and reality. for the record, i am not a blogger i just love to read blogs please guys dont stop on writing.
I did not bother to edit his post but knowing him he sincerely does not want fellow Filipinos fighting. For me what they are fighting for transcends more than the issues but their own personal principles. Principles are the only thing that you can't take away.
Parents with kids who own DS might be a little cautious about this upcoming release but that will not stop Rockstar Games into making one helluva a title.
Details I have scoured shows the GTA for the DS has a dope war-esque(PDA addicts might remember that game) mini game. The drug dealing mini-game will allow the you to peddle six types of drugs around the city. You will be able to make a profile from this, and there is some brains involved, the profit you make will depend on market conditions which will be based on the area you deal and the amount of service this area receives from you regularly. full details about the drug dealing mini game here
here are some screenshots of the game:
by the looks of it there are several mini games integrated in the game and the graphics are not that bad and it seems that the developer pushed the boundaries of the DS. The mini games that are known so far are: Glass Breaking- perfect when you are escaping from your car when you get stuck in a body of water. Hotwiring-perfect for those hard to jack cars. Trash Digging-for finding something in the garbage, a gun perhaps? Bomb Making- when you run out of molotov cocktails. Tattoing- what gang would be without their respected ink?
Gameplay are defined by an auto-targeting system that is engaged by the R button. There is also auto-steering for when you're in a car and players can use the touch-screen to navigate the in-game PDA, which will allow you to "email, contacts, the map, a music player, GPS, and stat-tracking.
I hope that this game would be one of those games that would really mark the uniqueness of the DS as a game system.

Hmmm sounds high end but Nokia stated that the 5800 will target the middle market level and a higher end touch screen phone would be released later.
This phone would put Nokia into the bounderies of IPhone territory I just hope that the new Symbian S60 touch OS would be up to the challenge of dethroning the multi touch freak that is Iphone.
A friend recently informed me about an award they are giving away in the upcoming Philippine Blog Awards sponsored by Level Up! Games, it was appropriately named Level Up! Gaming Blog Award and I was surprised about some of the finalists. I heard that GameOPS was nominated but failed to be a finalist. What the hell is a GameOPS? its one of the longest Filipino gaming website that became a gaming blog(due to changing times) and if it comes to credibility GameOPS is internationally mentioned.
It was mentioned by: Game Pro here PC World here Nintendo WII Fanboy here DS Fanboy here Max Console here TSUNAMIDUIT here
Some of the mentions was by exposing some serious and socially relevant issue and another was for exposing some AV idols as real gamers.
Im not judging any people but for educational purposes i grabbed some of Siopao Master's images for comparison. Here are some screenshots of the finalists' blogs:
I admit i am no judge but i'll let you guys be the judge to this atrocity here is the criteria:
1. Content - 80% The post itself and all its totality from the headline to the manner and style of writing is considered. Content and how the content was presented is critical. It is the total package, from the headline to the grammar and even to the effective use of images and sound, that is considered. Content for content sake is not enough it must be told in a manner that effectively conveys the idea and leaves an imprint in the readers’ mind.
2. Design and Usability - 20% This refers to aesthetic and usability features of the blog. Not only should it look pretty but it should also be functional and stress free to navigate within. Is it pretty and user-friendly?
If you were a boss and to hire an employee take all this into consideration, which blog will have a formidable and impressive resume and which would deserve a no thanks remark?
Hey! Most of you have purged linux out of you umpcs by doing so, gone is the simplistic interface. Windows XP is the most common OS installed because it opens a Pandora's box of goodies but sometimes it is somewhat complicated to use. Xandros is not that bad but it is just hard to find applications but XP is complex... Hmmmm What to do?
Dont fear! Circle dock is here! It works perfectly on those 7 to 10 inch screens. It is really much better than those Xandros tabs!
What Circle Dock 0.9.2 Alpha 7.6 Allows You to Do:
* Launch your programs from a circular dock. * Drag and drop your files, folders, and shortcuts onto a circular dock that you can resize. * Rotate the dock with either your mouse wheel or the keyboard arrow keys. * Change the image shown for the icons and change the skins (compatible with icons and skins for Rocket Dock, Object Dock, etc.) * The dock appears where your mouse is by pressing a hotkey (default is F1) or your middle mouse button. * Tested on computers with multiple monitors, Windows XP/Vista, 32-bit & 64-bit, and requires only .Net Framework 2.0. * Automatically works on all Windows Vista computers and most Windows XP computers. * A new settings panel that allows you to customize many options. It updates your dock as you make changes. See it change in real time! No need to press an OK button. * Multi-language capable. Just translate the English.ini file to the language of your choice. * Change the image used for the dock icons with the easiest method out there: Just set the program to "Icon Replacement Mode" in the right-click menu of the centre icon and you can change all the icon images by just dragging and dropping new PNG images onto them! Huge time saver when you are customizing your dock! * You can now toggle the visibility of the dock by moving your mouse to any edge of your screen. By default, the left and right edges are used for toggling. No need to press a button! * Rotate the dock with your mouse wheel or arrow keys (customizable). * Click sensitivity adjustment for tablet users. * Reorder the dock items by draging and dropping them over each other. * Organize the dock items using dock folders. * By default, clicking on the centre button does not open the start menu. You can enable this in the settings panel.
Circle Dock System Requirements:
* Windows XP or Vista (32 or 64 bit) * .NET Framework 2.0 or higher.
I have been following this story for quite some time now and the gist is like this:
1. Briton joins a web dating service. 2. Hooks up with a filipina. 3. Goes to the Philippines. 4. Visits the filipina, met her friends, coworkers, her boss(boss and the Briton talked about some possible business in the UK) and her family. 5. They did the dirty deed(hey that rhymes!) 6. He goes back to good old UK promising to bring her there.
This part is where it gets really dramatic:
7. She gets pregnant(unprotected sex? hardcore!!) 8. Sadly, she allegedly got an ectopic pregnancy(ecto what? its when the embryo gets implanted in one of the fallopian tubes and this is really a serious complication) 9. She gets hospitalized needed the money Briton promised to send some. Boss helped her out. 10. He got suspicious and asked a "friend" to verify the authenticity of the medical bills and images of her sutures.
The reason for the blogs: 11. Through empirical evidence he deduced that all the documents she sent were false and tampered. 12. He began to make website regarding how she scammed him and her family, her coworkers her boss are in a conspiracy to milk him of his hard earned money.
Meanwhile, in the Philippines............. 13. The boss, The filipina were shocked to be accused of such vile acts.
Now, Who's telling the truth? Hmmmmmmmmmmm......(to be continued)
Here is another emulator available for the DS. This time it runs old Neo Geo Games like King of Fighters and Fatal Fury. Hmmm About Fatal Fury, how many times did you guys played as Mai Shiranui? :)
